From Nov 16 to 17, the 6th International Conference of School as Learning Community was held at Fujian Normal University.The conference,sponsored by the International Network for School as Learning Community(INSLC), wasco-hosted by the MOE Key Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences at University, the Center for Teacher Education Research of Beijing Normal Universityand Fujian Normal University, and organizedby FNU’s College of Education. More than 330 eminentexperts, scholars and representatives of elementary and secondary school teachers from China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Britainattended this conference. Manabu Sato, president of the INSLCand former directorof the Pedagogy Departmentof the University of Tokyo, and Pro.Zheng Jiajian, vice presidentof FNU, respectively addressed the conference atthe opening ceremony.
During the conference, participators conducted in-depth academic discussion onthe theme of “Quality and Equality of Learning in School as Learning Community”, and parallel sessions were held in two branch venues for different topics.Four branch forums were dedicated to discussion and exchange of views onSLC collaborative learning, the professional developmentof SLC teachers, SLC school reform leadership and SLC practice in China. Delegatesof the conference also went on a field trip to No.4 Primary School Attached to Fuzhou Education Instituteto look at the achievements of applying SLC reform in the school.
