From Dec.5thto 11th, Vice Presidentof FNU Zheng Jiajianled the mainland compilation team ofcross-strait co-compiledhigh school Chinese textbooks to Taiwan, and jointly held the fifthcross-strait Chinese teaching exchange seminar and the cross-strait co-compiled textbooks (VolumeIV) release ceremony with the Taiwan compilation team.
During the exchange in Taiwan, the compilation teamssuccessively held three on-site teaching observationsand teaching seminars oncross-strait co-compiled textbooksinDaxi Senior High School of Taoyuan City, Taipei Catholic DarenGirls’HighSchoolandAffiliated High Schoolof Sun Yat-sen Universityin Kaohsiung.At the seminars, both teamsselectedthree outstanding middle school teachers to teach the classicworksrepresentingtraditional Chinese culturefrom the textbooks (Volumes I, II, III &IV), such as“On the Teacher”, “Romance of the Three Kingdoms: Zhuge Liang Borrowed Arrows by Taking Advantage of the East Wind”, “Tang Dynasty Tales: The Tale of the Curly-Bearded Guest”, “Preface to the Orchid Pavilion Poem Collections”and “Poems in Paintings”.The teachers from both sides of the Taiwan Strait competed againsteach other and learn from each other during the process.Frequentinteractionsbetween teachers and students created a harmonious and warmatmosphere.
In addition, the mainland compilation team also participated in the seminar on rhetoric in a broad sense and Chinese teaching,held at Kaohsiung Normal University. At the seminar, Prof. Sun Shaozhen from College of Chinese Language and Literature of FNU made a thematic report. Besides, more than 50 experts and scholars from cross-strait universities and middle schoolsconducted in-depth discussions on such topics as cross-strait Chinese teaching and cross-strait rhetoric, promotingcross-strait exchanges and cooperationin culture and education.
It is learnedthat since June2014, firmly believingthat people on both sides of the TaiwanStrait belong to onefamilyand working together withChinese CultureandEducation Associationin Taiwan,FNU has taken the lead in implementing the program for co-compilingcross-strait high school Chinesetextbooks,and published in Taiwan such co-compiled high schooltextbooks asChinese(from Ito IV),Basic Teaching Materials for Chinese Cultureand High School Selected Readingsof Ancient Poemsand Prose, which have been adoptedinmanymiddleschools in Taipei and Kaohsiung.The event aroused a greatresponse on both sides of the Taiwan Strait andwas covered by more than 10 cross-straitmedia,including CCTV, XinhuaNews Agency, China National Radio, People's Daily, Fujian daily and Taiwan United DailyNews.
